Sleep Disorders Australia (SDA) is a voluntary Not for Profit  organisation that advocates for the needs of people with sleep disorders and raises awareness of sleep disorders and the significance they can have on the lives of those affected by them. We also provide support and assistance to people and their families who are affected by sleep disorders and also information and education with regards to the prevention and treatment of sleep disorders. We work with a range of sleep health professionals, organisations, research centres and peak bodies.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea occurs when the airway in the throat collapses during sleep. People with sleep apnea usually snore loudly and have restless sleep. If left untreated, sleep apnea can increase the risk of serious health problems and even death.

 

A neurological condition that causes an irresistible urge to move your legs when you are at rest, particularly when you're trying to sleep. It is often described as tingling, creeping, crawling, or cramping.

Restless Legs Syndrome

Insomnia

Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep when you want to. There are various types of insomnia, resulting from various causes and needing different approaches.

Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is a debilitating neurological sleep/wake disorder. Symptoms include excessive daytime sleepiness and can also include sudden loss of muscle function, the inability to move when waking from sleep, hallucinations and disturbed night time sleep.

 

A neurological sleep/wake disorder char-acterised by excessive sleep and daytime sleepiness despite extraordinary amounts of good quality sleep. It is a debilitating condition often profoundly affecting all aspects of life.

Idiopathic Hypersomnia

Circadian Rhythm disorders

People with circadian rhythm sleep disorders are unable to sleep and wake at the times required for normal work, school, and social needs, which can severely impact their quality of life.
